In order to graduate as a master in Digital Media Design all students had to engage in an individual project as well as a group project. Clouds was my individual project: an interactive installation that hung above a shopping street in the center of Utrecht.
Depending on where people were standing beneath the installation, the perspective on the virtual sky changed to create a false illusion of it being a window. Inside this virtual window, the clouds morphed into various sea creatures.
Artistically, it was at once a hommage to the free-thinker Jacques Cousteau as well as a comment on urban space: the only part of the urban environment that hasn't been designed yet, the sky, was now also pre-designed. No imagination required.

Clouds at twilight. During the day the sun shone too bright and the installation couldn't work.

Clouds at night were poetic in itself.

Some people started lying down on the street to look at the clouds.
