BelBellen is an interactive installation consisting of a gigantic mobile phone with a bubblemachine in it. When a visitor rings a phonenumber that is displayed on the massive phone, the bubblemachine springs into action for 30 seconds, spewing bubbles onto the spectators below.
The concept originated with Levien Nordeman during a brainstorming session for the NetNiet.org Wireless Festival, and soon spun of into a joint production. The concept hinges on the double meaning of the Dutch word "bellen" which means both "calling" as well as "bubbles".
So far, the installation has been shown at the Cinekid Festival 's new
media section, but we intend to show the phone at more events.
